Hotel Lincoln 1928

Regular price $110.00

The trade journal Decorative Furnisher said the interior of the 1928 Lincoln was the first large building in the United States to be done "in the modern style"—with heavy use of geometric Art Deco styling. But the exterior was purely commercial architecture, "American twentieth century," said the magazine Edison Monthly. Such dichotomy is common in New York City, where the full exteriors of high raises often cannot even be seen from the street, and where the architectural personality of a building is seen as residing on the inside. The hotel dates back to 1880.
